Legislative Summit and Update
More than 100 CRNAs turned out to the Legislative Summit at the capitol in Richmond to have their voices heard and fight for Virginia CRNAs practice rights. Joined by Delegate Ellen Campbell and supported by the outreach from over 300 nurse anesthetists from across the commonwealth, including over 900 calls, emails and conversations with legislators, CRNAs in attendance were able to meet with numerous senators, delegates and staff, including:
- Senator Lynwood Lewis
- Delegate Emily Brewer, 64th District
- Senator Bill DeSteph’s Legislative Assistant, Scott Humphries
- Senator L. Louise Lucas’ staff
- Delegate Karen Greenhalgh’s Legislative Assistant
We were also honored to be welcomed to the House of Delegates by Delegate Roxann Robinson, who was able to share our mission and aims with the delegation.
We want to thank Del. William Wampler for sponsoring HB 2287 and giving a voice to CRNAs in the General Assembly! As a coalition we have been incredibly effective and proven the power of our outreach and mobilization and are prepared and excited to end supervision over the next year.
