VANA Welcomes New Government Relations Team to Strengthen Advocacy
We’re excited to announce a major step forward in VANA’s mission to advocate for Virginia’s CRNAs: the formation of a new, expanded government relations team.
Joining forces with Brian Moran of Moran Strategies, we’re proud to welcome Gentry Locke Consulting, led by Patrice Lewis and Greg Habeeb, to help drive our legislative and regulatory efforts. This powerful team brings decades of experience and a bipartisan approach to advancing healthcare policy in Virginia.
“With this team, VANA is better prepared to support equal access to quality healthcare for all Virginians,” said VANA President Derek Owens, DrAP, CRNA. “They understand the challenges we face, from workforce shortages to outdated supervision rules, and they’re ready to deliver results.”
“As our coalition of CRNA supporters grows, so too does the need for thoughtful, forward-looking engagement with the public and policymakers,” said Meredith Joyner, MBA, MSNA, CRNA, FAANA and government relations committee director at VANA. “I’m confident the Gentry Locke and Moran Strategies teams are prepared to promote safe anesthesia care and to advance the science of the nurse anesthesia profession to the legislature and the public in the Commonwealth.”
The government relations team will initially focus on key policy areas, including addressing outdated supervision requirements for CRNAs, protecting and promoting the nurse anesthesia profession, expanding access to care, and ensuring healthcare workers are able to practice to the full extent of their licensure.
Our focus remains clear: expanding access to care, ensuring CRNAs can practice to the full extent of their training, and protecting our profession in both public and policymaking arenas.
As our coalition of supporters grows, we’re committed to meeting the moment with strong partnerships, informed strategies, and impactful advocacy. Stay tuned for more updates as we move forward.
