ICYMI: Preparing for the upcoming General Assembly session

Thank you to all who attend the December 18th legislative update webinar with Maria Hirsch and Meredith Joyner. We were grateful to have so many of you in attendance eager to learn about the upcoming General Assembly session. Just in case you missed anything, or were unable to attend, we wanted to make sure you received the below information.

Among the topics we discussed were the various bills we expect to be introduced when the General Assembly convenes on January 10, 2024. Please view the recording of the webinar to learn more on those legislative items. A recording of the webinar is available by clicking here.

VANA has also made resources available to VANA members that are helpful for talking about these bills with lawmakers. Included on this page are talking points, fact sheets, legislative contact information, the legislative meeting reporting form, and more. Please click here to visit the VANA members only section of the website to access those materials.

We wanted to also make sure you have the details for the upcoming VANA legislative summit on January 25, 2024 taking place in Richmond. Please join us that day as CRNAs gather from across to state to advocate for our profession at the Capitol. For details and to register for this free event, click here.

One of the most important things that we can do right now is donate to the PAC. This helps VANA effectively reach lawmakers and advocate for our profession. Right now, every dollar donated is matched up to $50,000. To donate, click here.

And don’t forget to register for the VANA Winter Workshop taking place on February 3, 2024 in Richmond. This is an excellent opportunity to reconnect with your peers for cutting-edge educational lectures on topics of critical importance to the practice of nurse anesthesia. For more details and information on registration, please click here.

As always, be sure to check your email often as we anticipate a lot of updates coming in the next several weeks. In addition to your email, follow VANA’s social media accounts for the latest information:

Thank you all again for attending the webinar and for your willingness to advocate for CRNAs! Your efforts will help us win the day in Richmond. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks and be sure to keep an eye on your email and on VANA’s social media channels.
