Public Relations Update

By Adam Bitely, Martin Waymire

It’s been a busy first half of 2022 as Martin Waymire and the VANA Communications Committee have ramped up communications efforts, especially on the social media front.

During the first half of 2022, VANA’s social media content has been viewed more than 435,000 times and VANA’s accounts have picked up more than 400 new followers across our four public social media accounts. We are continuing to grow and reach even more people in Virginia with VANA’s message!

Also, during the first half of 2022, we’ve had several columns from VANA members published in papers across the state. Please check out the following columns that have been published by VANA members this year:

We are continuing to work on placing columns over the coming weeks and months that tell the story of how CRNAs provide safe, quality care while advocating for commonsense public policy that allows CRNAs to do what they do best.

At the end of July, we will begin working on filming short videos for use on social media and beyond that tell the story of how CRNAs are impacted by not having full practice authority. We will be showcasing CRNAs from across Virginia focusing on how CRNAs can practice to the full extent of their training in the military, but not in a hospital for Virginia residents. We will also be having people talk about how the lack of full practice authority impacts their daily work, patient access, and drives CRNAs out of Virginia. We look forward to updating you all on the progress of this project.

We’d like to remind everyone to make sure to follow VANA’s social media accounts to stay up to date on what’s going on across Virginia with CRNAs:

If you have any questions on public relations and social media, please reach out to Adam Bitely at Martin Waymire at [email protected].
