Attention CRNAs and SRNAs! You are invited to join us in Norfolk IN PERSON OR VIRTUALLY for the VANA 2020 Annual Fall Conference. This is an excellent opportunity to join your CRNA peers for cutting-edge educational lectures on topics of critical importance to the practice of nurse anesthesia. We’re pleased to announce that we will be hosting Jazzfest, an evening of drinks and dancing following lectures on Saturday, October 3. Tickets to the event will benefit the CRNA-PAC, Virginia CRNAs Who Care About Healthcare.

Important information:
  • This meeting will be held IN PERSON, but will be available if you wish to participate virtually. You will be prompted to select whether you will be attending in person or participate virtually through the registration process.
  • If you participate virtually, there will be a few activities that you will not be able to participate in. See agenda link below for more information.
  • Registration fees depend on your registration type. Learn more on the registration page. NOTE: there will not be a registration fee difference if you participate virtually.
  • PAC event tickets are $50 for CRNAs and $25 for SRNAs. This year 50% of ticket proceeds will benefit the CRNA-PAC, Virginians Who Care About Healthcare. Your contribution to the CRNA-PAC is not tax deductible. Additional information will be collected on the form for reporting purposes.
  • The hotel room block closes Thursday, September 3, 2020. Please call Hilton Norfolk the Main to make your reservation at 757-763-6200, referencing “VANA Annual Fall Meeting,” or going online and using the group code VAN.
  • Meeting planners are currently applying for CE credits.

COVID-19 Important Information:
  • Both VANA and Hilton Norfolk the Main will be taking the necessary safety precautions in regards to COVID-19. Registrants who attend in person will be required to agree to a COVID-19 Release and Hold Harmless Agreement through the registration process.
  • Should the Virginia Governor mandate restrictions on social gatherings prior to the event, the backup plan is to go fully virtual with the same agenda and timing. More details will be announced if this occurs.
  • As we look forward to this in-person event, be assured that the safety and health of all attendees and hotel staff is top priority. All possible precautions will be taken regarding social distancing, surface cleaning, face coverings, and the like. See the links below for specific procedures that have been put in place by our host venue.

Important FAQs:
  • Q. What happens if I register to attend in person, and then change my mind to attend virtually? (Or vice versa).
    A. If you change your mind on attending in person after you register, please send an email to info@virginiacrna.org so that we can keep our accurate headcount for seating and meal purposes (and ensure you receive the links to the live-stream program, if you are opting to go virtual). Based on capacity limits that guide the hotel’s ability to safety and responsibly socially distance participants’ seating arrangements, it is possible we could meet the maximum capacity at the hotel. Therefore, it is important in that you let us know a change in plans as soon as possible.
  • Q. Will I be required to wear a face covering throughout the conference if attending in person?
    A. It is advised that all participants wear face coverings throughout all in-person conference activities. For more on the hotel’s plans for implementing safety precautions, please click here.
  • Q. Will participants be socially distanced during the conference?
    A. The hotel has designed a safe and responsible room layout to allow for social distancing. You can find more information here.
  • Q. Will the speakers be in person or virtual?
    A. At this point, all of our speakers plan to participate in person. However, each speaker reserves the right to make their own decision about travel and participation based on their individual circumstances.
  • Q. How will the CE process work if I participate virtually?
    A. More information will be available on the CE process as we get closer to the conference. Staff is planning on applying for CE credits, and if approved, virtual registrants would be eligible to earn up to 11 credits if participating in both days. If you register to participate virtually, you will receive more information via email.
  • Q. If I attend virtually, will I be able to ask questions?
    A. VANA is working with the hotel audio/visual department to create a user-friendly platform for the live-streamed version of the programming. Stay tuned for more information.
  • Q. If I register and pay for the PAC event, and then decide at a later date that I can no longer to participate (or decide that I going to switch my registration to participate in the general session conference virtually and therefore will not be in person at the conference), will I get a refund for the PAC event?
    A. This is an unprecedented time and VANA respects the choices that each registrant makes. If you register for the PAC event and later decide to not to attend, rather than requesting a refund, we suggest that you consider donating the full amount – $50 (CRNA) or $25 (SRNA) – to the CRNA-PAC. Simply email info@virginiacrna.org and we’ll make sure the funds are appropriated as you wish.
